The Journey Continues
For the past several weeks, the Lord has been taking us on a journey. We remembered the way, crossed the Jordan, returned to Gilgal for consecration, and watched the manna cease as God called Israel into greater responsibility. Now we stand before Jericho.
What strikes me is that Jericho wasn’t just another battle—it was the doorway to everything God had promised. Sometimes the greatest resistance comes because you’ve finally arrived at the place God ordained for your next season.
Resistance Is a Sign You’ve Arrived
Joshua tells us that, “Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel” (Joshua 6:1).
The walls weren’t closed because Israel was weak; they were closed because Israel had arrived.
That truth has encouraged me personally. There have been seasons in my own life when I lost almost everything and wondered why the warfare became so intense. Looking back, I now realize I wasn’t standing at the end of my story—I was standing at the doorway of a new season.
What I thought was rejection was actually preparation.
Sometimes resistance is Heaven’s announcement that you’ve reached the entrance to your promise.
Faithful Stewardship Unlocks Greater Fruit
Another lesson that speaks to me is God’s unusual strategy.
Israel didn’t need another plan; they simply needed to obey the one God had already given.
That’s exactly what the Lord has been teaching me in this season. Instead of constantly searching for something new, He’s been showing me how to maximize what He’s already placed in my hands—every PrayerLine, every sermon, every Bible study, every opportunity to disciple people.
I’ve discovered there’s more fruit in faithful stewardship than in constantly chasing the next idea.
God Works Before You See It
For six days nothing seemed to change.
The walls didn’t crack, and there was no visible evidence that anything was happening.
I’ve experienced seasons like that in ministry. There were times I faithfully preached, prayed, and served without seeing immediate results.
Yet I’ve learned that God often does His greatest work beneath the surface.
Just because you don’t see movement doesn’t mean Heaven isn’t moving.
God is often preparing your breakthrough long before you see your walls come down.
Final Encouragement
If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s this:
Don’t stop at Jericho.
Jericho was never Israel’s destination—it was only the doorway into their inheritance.
Keep walking.
Keep trusting.
Keep obeying.
The wall in front of you is not greater than the God who has gone before you.
What God has promised, He is faithful to perform, and what looks like your greatest obstacle may become the doorway to your greatest season.
