I’ve been a born-again believer for many years, and every year I realize I am still learning more about the character of God. When I was a young preacher, I thought I knew God. I preached with confidence, conviction, and passion—but as I’ve walked through life and gone through different processes, I’ve come to understand something humbling: I didn’t know as much as I thought I did. And to be honest, I’m still learning. Growth with God is progressive. The deeper you walk with Him, the more you discover His nature, His ways, and His government. Recently, the Lord gave me a revelation about what I call the spirit of promotion, and it brought clarity to many things in my own life.

When people talk about promotion, they often mean elevation or favor. But promotion in the Kingdom is much deeper than that. Promotion carries weight. It carries responsibility. It is a shift in authority. It is a governmental transition into another level of stewardship. Yes, promotion includes elevation. Yes, it includes favor. But you can have favor and still not be promoted. Promotion is not just being lifted — it is being entrusted.
As we move into 2026, many in the body of Christ are stepping into a season of promotion. And what didn’t make sense when you were looking forward will begin to make sense when you look back. The delays, the pressure, the pruning, the hidden seasons—they were not punishment. They were in preparation. I’ve been teaching our congregation about movement, and the point I keep making is this: God does want to move us forward—but not just for our delight. He moves us for His purpose. God does not advance you merely to make you feel better. He advances you because there is something he wants. He wants it done through you. The spirit of promotion is not about applause. It is about the assignment. You are not just progressing—you are being prepared for responsibility. Promotion is not about being seen. It is about being trusted. And when God promotes you, it is because He has found you faithful in the process.
Psalm 75:6–7 declares, “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one and setteth up another.” This is not another teaching on favor — it is a revelation about promotion. Favor is access; promotion is advancement. Favor opens doors, but promotion changes your position. Joseph had favor in prison, but he was still incarcerated; when promotion came in Genesis 41, he moved from inmate to governor. Elevation can come through talent, timing, networking, or exposure, but kingdom promotion is God-authorized increase—an official verdict from Heaven.
That is why the Psalmist removes the east and the west — the cycles of beginnings and endings—and the south—symbolic of natural provision and human systems—and then points to God as Judge. Promotion is not tied to natural cycles; it is tied to divine decision. In Daniel 7, we see thrones set and judgment rendered, because promotion in the Kingdom is judicial, not emotional. The north is not mentioned in Psalm 75, yet Scripture connects divine rule to the north in Psalm 48:2 and Isaiah 14:13, symbolizing the throne of God. When horizontal sources are eliminated, look vertical.
Elevation increases spotlight; kingdom promotion increases stewardship. Elevation feeds ego; promotion refines character. Elevation can happen overnight; promotion is confirmed over time. Elevation gives platform; promotion gives weight. When we speak of the spirit of promotion, we are acknowledging that promotion is not merely an event—it is a spiritual operation where God, the Judge, renders a verdict and entrusts heavier responsibility to those proven faithful. When people cannot explain your advancement, tell them it did not come from the east, the west, or the south—it came from the throne.
